Travel & Logistics
π Where the hell am I going and how do I get there?
The villa is named Domaine de Saint-Pierre and is located in the village of Travaillan, France. The address is:
4691 Rte de Cairanne, 84850 Travaillan, France
Here is a link to the location on Google Maps.
The nearest international airport is Marseille Provence (MRS), and the nearest high-speed train station is Avignon TGV. If you arrive into MRS, we recommend collecting a rental car from MRS and driving north to the villa (~75 minutes). If you arrive into Paris (CDG), we recommend taking a train south to Avignon TGV (between 2h 45m and 3h 15m depending on the train), and then collecting a rental car to drive to the villa. The drive from Avignon TGV to the villa will be between 45-60 minutes.
For train travelers, we recommend either SNCF Connect or Rail Europe to plan your itinerary and book your tickets.
NOTE: there are two train stations in Avignon but only “Avignon TGV” has rental car pickups & returns.
ποΈ What are the dates / times for arrival & departure?
The villa is booked from Saturday, July 4, 2026 to Saturday, July 11, 2026. Check-in begins at 5:00pm on July 4. Checkout concludes at 11:00am on July 11. Please refer to the Daily Schedule page for the dates and times of all events, daily markets, World Cup soccer matches, etc.
π Do I need to rent a car for days / times at leisure?
Yes, a rental car per family group is highly recommended. The only transportation we are providing is for the wine tour on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. To make the most of your leisure time visiting nearby villages and markets, we highly recommend renting a car. Taxis and ride-shares are limited and can be difficult to summon on short notice in the countryside.
π
ΏοΈ What is the parking situation at the villa?
There should be ample, on-site parking at the villa for those who choose to rent their own vehicles.
Sustenance
π½οΈ How am I supposed to satiate myself?
We are providing the following meals at the villa:
- Daily continental breakfast
- Welcome reception dinner (pizza, salad, & beverages)
- Anniversary party dinner (coursed meal catered by a private chef, cocktails/mocktails by a mixologist, & other beverages)
All other meals will be up to each family. The villa includes a “fully equipped professional kitchen” for those motivated to self-cater. The local village markets will be great sources for ingredients & other provisions. There are also a number options to dine out and order in. Please refer to the Food & Wine page for specifics.
Event Specifics
π What is the dress code for the anniversary party (Wednesday, July 8, 2026)?
The dress code for our celebration is “Provencal Chic.” We suggest light, breathable fabrics like linen and cotton. For gentlemen, a light blazer or collared shirt is perfect (no tie required). For ladies, cocktail attire is ideal. The party will be outdoors, so please keep in mind that flat shoes are probably best for uneven surfaces.
π§ Are children invited to all events?
Kids are invited to almost every portion of the celebration, including the welcome reception and the anniversary party. The only exception is the all-day wine tour (Tuesday, July 7, 2026), which is reserved for guests aged 18 and older.
On-the-Ground Info
𧳠What should I pack for Provence in the summer?
We expect mostly sunny and warm conditions for the week in Provence. Ensure you have high-SPF sunscreen, a hat, water bottle, and sunglasses for your time outdoors. Also, pack a light sweater or jacket for the evenings when the temperature drops after sunset. Finally, donβt forget a universal power adapter like this for your electronics.
πͺ What options will I have to burn off all the cheese/wine/chocolate/baguette/etc. caloric gluttony?
The villa does not provide a fitness center or gym equipment. However, it appears that some local gyms like Basic-Fit 24/7 in Orange offer drop-in / day passes for a nominal charge. There are also many running & cycling routes in the area. Bike rentals can likely be arranged through the villa hosts or in nearby villages like Orange.
π Are there pharmacies and/or grocery stores nearby?
Yes, there are grocery stores and pharmacies in proximity. The nearest large-ish grocery store is the IntermarchΓ© CONTACT in Camaret-sur-Aigues.
Please refer to the “Food & Wine” page on this site for a larger list of merchants for your provisions.
The nearest pharmacy appears to be Pharmacie du Cours du Nord Totum, but you may have better luck going to Orange which is a larger village with more options.
Note: many local shops & pharmacies close on Sundays, so plan accordingly.
π¬ What is the best way to stay in touch throughout the trip?
We will invite you to two Whatsapp groups:
- “Admin” group for announcements (read-only)
- General group for guest communication / spam
Note: We recommend checking with your US-based mobile service provider to ensure at least one person in your travel group will have mobile service in France.
